Care for stone in a high Sonoran Desert setting

Desert Mountain’s villages include custom homes and residences influenced by contemporary, Southwestern, Santa Fe and Spanish Colonial design. Natural stone may appear across large interior floors, kitchens, fireplaces, courtyards, patios and pool areas. Those surfaces face different combinations of foot traffic, sun, dust, water and temperature change.

All Stone Pro assesses each surface before recommending work. Marble and travertine can etch; slate can weather or flake along its natural layers; granite and quartzite vary in composition; and engineered quartz requires repair methods designed for manufactured material.

Quartz repair

Exterior stone weathers by exposure

A shaded courtyard, a sun-facing entry and a pool surround can age differently even when built from related stone. We divide the property into practical treatment zones so cleaning and protection match each area instead of forcing one process across the entire installation.

Will sealing stop every stain or weathering problem?

No. A suitable impregnating sealer may reduce absorption, but it cannot repair cracks, correct drainage or prevent acidic substances from etching calcite-based stone. The surface should be stable, clean and dry before sealing is considered.
